Branch Diary

For social bookings email socialsecretary@chelmsford.camra.org.uk or contact Martin Joy on 07878 624443 (Social Secretary). Last minute arrivals may be accepted at some events but for most pre-booking is advised.

We use self-drive Minibuses driven by CME members and volunteers where possible. With Minibus hire we are unfortunately only allowed to take CAMRA members on these trips. Spaces are limited to 16 per Minibus.

Non-members who wish to attend members only trips are encouraged to consider joining CAMRA.

Please note that for over-subscribed events we reserve the right to give priority to CME Branch members over members of other Branches or non-members.


  • Essex PotY Judging Trip by Minibus Saturday 20 April 2024 Essex

    Depart from opposite Chelmsford Railway Station, time TBC.
    All members are welcome to join us to visit pubs which have been judged as Pub of the Year for each Branch located in Essex.
    Usually to all four corners of the county and eight pubs visited.
    It’s a most enjoyable day and we ask you to judge each pub on a variety of merits to establish which one is the best in Essex.
    Approx Cost will be £20 per person.

    All members are welcome to attend.

  • A Mild and Cider Expedition Saturday 11 May 2024 12:00 Chelmsford

    It will officially be Mild and Cider Month, so we will be visiting and hunting out pubs in Chelmsford we think will be serving these tipples.
    Starting at the Endeavour, Springfield at midday then into the city to visit a host of other fine establishments.
    It’s a pub crawl but with a difference, everyone is welcome whether CAMRA member or not.

  • Branch Meeting and Social Wednesday 22 May 2024 20:00 The Pub, Braintree

    The Pub, Braintree serves a full selection of Wibblers beers, all on gravity.
    Everyone is welcome to attend our branch meeting, and also enjoy a social evening.
    It’s a short walk from Braintree Station and Bus Terminal, with regular services from Witham and Chelmsford.
    *** First time CAMRA member attendees receive a free pint ***.

  • Visit to Cambridge Saturday 25 May 2024 Cambridge

    Visit to Cambridge by bus and train, times TBC.
    Cambridge Beer Festival will be running from 20th to 25th, so there’s a chance to visit this but we will be concentrating on visiting some of the superb, back-street locals of this wonderful city.
    All are welcome to join in the fun, whether CAMRA member or not.

  • Visit to Ipswich by Train Saturday 15 June 2024 Ipswich

    Further details to follow, including timings, groupsave etc.
    As a branch we haven’t visited Ipswich for some time, but there are some great places to explore.
    We will be visiting by train and stopping by recommended pubs, taprooms and micros.
    All are welcome, CAMRA member or not.

  • East Anglia PotY Judging Trip Saturday 6 – Sunday 7 July 2024 East Anglia

    East Anglia Pub of the Year judging trip by minibus over two days, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July, staying overnight in Norwich.
    Minibus subsidised but there will be some costs involved, further details to follow.
    Members only due to CAMRA minibus insurance arrangements, and you must be prepared fairly to judge each pub we visit over the weekend.
    Make your own arrangements for accommodation.
    Visiting all six counties of CAMRA East Anglia and their respective Pubs of the Year.
    A great weekend visiting the best pubs in East Anglia, with the added attraction of an evening in Norwich and some of its brilliant establishments.
