Please be advised that the Social team have decided to use self-drive Minibuses driven by CME members and volunteers where possible. With Minibus hire we are unfortunately only allowed to take CAMRA members on these trips. Spaces are limited to 16 per Minibus.
Non-members who wish to attend members only trips are encouraged to consider joining CAMRA, especially at this year’s winter and summer Beer Festivals where there are often special offers.
On all Minibus trips you will be dropped off in reasonable walking distance to your home. Other coach trips will include the Chelmsford Circuit drop off around this circuit on return to Chelmsford.
We will still continue to use Coach Companies for our all day trips and also runabouts that are a little further afield and where we know demand for places will be high.
Please note that for over-subscribed events we reserve the right to give priority to CME Branch members over members of other Branches or non-members.

  • Visit to Bruges in Belgium Friday 1 February 2019 Bruges

    By Minibus and via Eurotunnel. Proposed Cost of travel will be approx £50.00 per person.
    You must book your own accommodation in Bruges and have valid passport.
    (Ibis centrum is approx £146 for 2 nights per room).
    It is the Bruges Beer festival whilst we are there. Check website https://10times.com/bruges-beer-festival.
    This trip is now fully booked but you can go on the reserve list or
    make your own way there and meet up with us in Bruges.

    Free Campaigning minibus from opposite Chelmsford Railway Station.
    Judging trip, so you will be expected to score each establishment visited.

  • Evening Visit to the Chappel Winter Beer Festival Saturday 2 March 2019 19:00 East Anglian Railway Museum

    7pm by minibus from opposite Chelmsford Railway Station, also pick up in Witham.
    Nominal charge to cover costs for fuel.
    NB- If beer at festival is sold out we will visit Colchester instead.

    (or veggie option), then it’s a pay bar at £2.50/pint.

  • Essex Cider POTY Judging Trip Saturday 30 March 2019 11:00 Essex

    Minibus departs 11am opposite Chelmsford Railway Station.
    Open to members of all Essex CAMRA Branches, so please book early.
    Judging the Cider Pub of the Year of each branch in an effort to judge and
    score them all for the Essex Cider Pub of the Year Competition.
    You will be expected to compete scores sheets for each establishment visited.
    This is a free minibus for campaigning purposes to those attending, but other branches
    will be asked to contribute to costs of hire and fuel for the day if their members attend.

    Visiting Galleywood Social Club, Running Mare, Horse & Groom, then a short walk
    to the Clay Pigeon and Fox & Hounds, Tile Kiln, before catching bus (or walk)
    into Chelmsford to end the day at the Woolpack Beer and Cider Festival.
